Táxi Aéreo Marília was established in 1961, by the union of ten young pilots of single-engine aircrafts. Back then they transported cargo and passengers between Paraná and the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso. After 6 years, the group was bought by the entrepreneur Orlando Ometto, gaining offices in São Paulo, and changing its profile when it started transporting luggage on its own.

In 1971, Commander Rolim Amaro was asked by Orlando Ometto to become a financial partner in the company, with 33% of the shares. The following year, the pilot acquired half TAM's shares and became the director of the company. 1976 marked the rise of TAM (Regional Air Transport), the origins of the company known today as TAM Airlines.

Accelerated growth over the following decades made TAM into the company that it is today.
