Star Alliance launches iPhone app

Star Alliance travellers can now access comprehensive travel information via their iPhone. The new Navigator app enables passengers to consult real-time flight information and tailor their travel plans accordingly. The new app includes:

• Flight Status - flight status information with real time updates of departure and arrivals and map views;
• Flight Schedule Search - search for flights across the Star Alliance member airline network;
• Airport Information - comprehensive information including maps;
• Lounges – location and facilities of the more than 970 lounges which eligible Star Alliance customers can access across the globe;
• City Guides - where to stay, eat, drink, shop, etc.

Christopher Korenke, Commercial Vice-President of Star Alliance, said of the launch of this new app, that “the use of mobile technologies is today essential to improving the travel experience of customers. The growing number of travellers using smartphones makes access to important travel information on the go an essential requirement. With the Star Alliance Navigator, we now take the first step in providing what our customers want from us in the field of mobile information.” 

The app is Star Alliance’s first for the iPhone and it is currently available in English as a free download from www.staralliance.com/en/services/apps/iphone/ or from the Apple App store. Versions for other languages and operating systems are due to be released in the near future.
