Portuguese Film premieres on TAP flights

30.Aug.2011

São Vicente, a new destination this year, is a backdrop for the film Eden

More than 2,600 TAP passengers have seen the documentary Eden, which was directed by Daniel Blaufuks and won one of the awards at the Festival Indie Lisboa. It will be available on long-haul TAP flights (equipped with digital systems) until November.

This 64-minute documentary addresses the memories that the film industry left on the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde, one of TAP's new destinations this year. Based on the premise that “the sea and films were the only way off the island”, Blaufuks reveals his own take of São Vicente using a wealth of testimonies and images.

Last May, Festival Indie Lisboa awarded Eden the TAP Award for Best Portuguese Feature-length Documentary. TAP sponsored the festival and has been screening winning films on its flights. This has helped disseminate contemporary Portuguese culture and has brought Portuguese films to audiences that would rarely have access to such a vast range. It is worth noting that more than two-thirds of TAP passengers are from other countries.
