TAP Elected Best International Airline in Brazil
02.Dec.2011
Top Aviesp Awards name the Best of 2011 in São Paulo
TAP was considered the Best International Airline among the various foreign carriers operating in Brazil, at the 34th São Paulo State Tourism Fair, Aviestur, whose prize-giving ceremony took place today during the Aviesp Seminar.
Aviesp, the Association of Independent Travel Agents from the interior of São Paulo state, established the Top Aviesp Awards to recognise publicly the best in Brazilian Tourism, voted for by the travel agents of that region. The awards recognise the industry’s companies and operators who particularly stand out in each year.
TAP has the widest flight offering to Brazil of all the international carriers, and by being crowned winner in 2011 in that important market it sees its prestige strengthened and its work recognised, that of promoting and stimulating tourism between Portugal and Brazil consistently over the last few years.
Alongside TAP, TAM also won a prize, for national aviation company, and Trip won in the regional category.
With an average of 74 direct services per week between Portugal and Brazil, TAP serves ten destinations in the country – Fortaleza, Natal, Recife and Salvador in the northeast; Brasilia and Belo Horizonte in the centre and Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Campinas and Porto Alegre in the south.
With 1,400,000 passengers flown on services between the two countries last year, Brazil today is TAP’s third largest market in passenger transport to and from Portugal (point to point), with transfer traffic also becoming very important.
