Star Alliance was a pioneer in the SAUA - Star Alliance Upgrade Award - product, being the first alliance to offer upgrades in its entire network. Instead of making upgrades only on one airline, you can upgrade to any of the airlines in the worldwide network!
Star Alliance has bet on this innovation and widening to the entire network, and now also Air China and Shanghai Airlines allow you to enjoy this SAUA.
It's easy to enjoy this offer: your miles can be used for an upgrade to the next class up. For example, you can upgrade from Economy to Executive Class as well as Executive to First Class.
SAUA is automatic and does not require proof on paper, making it convenient for the passenger. Simply request, obtain approval and board a superior class in comfort.
All 15 Star Alliance companies make this product available for its members, and Shanghai Airlines and Air China are the most recent to participate.
Victoria Members can also use their miles in an upgrade on an airline operated by another participating company that is a member of Star Alliance.
We'd like to remind you of the airlines that already have SAUA. Besides TAP, they are Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, LOT, Lufthansa, SWISS, SAS, Thai, United, Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air China and Shanghai Airlines.
